I dedicate this DAC+Amp next to my Yamaha KX-10 cassette deck. It only takes a small space to perform multiple functions in my already crowded computer bench. It is my headphone amp for listening to the deck on my highly sensitive T1, and more critically, it serves as the DAC to the cassette recording deck for converting FLAC and also the converter from my D-303 Discman's SPDIF output. Of course occasionally I would listen to my computer or cellphones via its DAC function. K5 Pro is almost one for everything. I am hoping its next gen could get a balanced output then that'll be perfect for my usage. DSD is okay. Just please do not add Bluetooth.

I've always liked the FiiO DACs. They are always well built and provide very good sound for a decent cost. Their K5 Pro seems to be no different except maybe even easier to connect. The only issue I had was not knowing I had to go into Windows Sound Devices Properties to find Advanced and update the Sample and Bit Rates. Google is great help for that. After the lights around the volume knob operated correctly. The sound is as good as any I've heard. I've tried about 15 different DACs. Are there better DACs out there?? Probably. My guess is they would cost a lot more.

The k5 came just as described, in great condition, and works perfectly. I bought it as a second unit for my friend's new pc. It has been about a month and she has absolutely loved the Dac. She's pairing it with a Philip SHP9500, the k5 Pro does a good job pushing power and providing clarity with these headphones. I currently pair the unit with EPOS's H6 Pro - Open Backs and I've gotta say it's been my best experience with audio setups sofar.

It's a step up from my earlier headphone amp, a Grado RA-1, in that there is no background noise and the volume adjustment does not affect the L/R balance.

Had the little brother which was fine but when I I hooked it up I immediately heard the difference. I started with Vaughan Williams the Lark Ascending and it was really a lark. You have a sense of immediacy and yes certain subtleties that I did not notice were there. My only caveat is that an item like this deserves a decent instruction book.
