This innovative drama from writer and director James Toback (BUGSY, BLACK AND WHITE) follows the travails of Alan Jensen (Adrian Grenier), a Harvard student determined to live life to the fullest and find the ultimate truth. He gets high regularly, and is sleeping with Holy Cross cheerleader Cindy Bandolini (Sarah Michelle Gellar), who also happens to be a mobster's daughter. Simultaneously, Alan is carrying on an illicit affair with his philosophy professor, Chesney Cort (Joey Lauren Adams), a woman with a vast sexual appetite. When his parents lose their Kansas home in a tornado, Alan is desperate to help them financially. He turns to Cindy's father for a loan and is soon entrenched in a high-stakes gambling scheme. But all is not as it seems and Alan soon finds himself in over his head with many aspects of his life: his drug use, the women in his life, and even the FBI. Grenier is endearing as the truth-seeking Alan, and as a tough-talking Mafia princess, Gellar steps far away from her television persona as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Eric Stoltz and Rebecca Gayheart lend their talents in supporting roles that add to the film's twisting storyline.

I received the Luiz Miguel CD in it on Monday, April 15, 2024. Nice quick service. I opened the package and I found the CD case with the Documentation for "Romances" by Luiz Miguel. So far so good. However when I opened the CD case, I found the CD that was included was not Romances, instead it was his CD titled Romance. Notice one ends in "e" and the other ends in "es". Almost the same name but an entirely different library of songs. I wanted to receive Romances. Can I exchange it?

Not a bad little movie
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie, as I expected more of an thriller and it turned out to be a fairly dramatic film. Adrian Grenier is believable as the confused and pseudo-intellectual college student, Alan, who gets in over his head with a manipulative mob-Boss daughter (Sarah Michelle Gellar playing fellow college student, Cindy). There are some fairly explicit scenes as Alan tries to find a "higher consciousness" through sex and drugs. The movie falls a little flat in its fast-and-loose portrayal of the FBI, but if you can ignore the artistic license taken in order to forward the plot, it's not a bad portrayal of college student angst mixed with a few important life lessons, such as: there's no such thing as a free lunch.I was pleasantly surprised by this movie, as I expected more of an thriller and it turned out to be a fairly dramatic film. Sexy and Twisted
Sarah Michelle Gellar as a mobster's daughter. Adrian Grenier as a college basketball player sleeping with a mobster's daughter and one of his professors. Throw in mind altering drugs and other big name celebs and you've got a pretty good movie.
