Need more power in Optiplex 990
Every Dell Optiplex 990 in my company was killing every hard drive i put in it. the problem was that I'm running add on graphics card, ssd drive and seagate HD's The 990 PSU cannot power all three of these and the victim seems to be the hard drives. I have not put new hard drives in yet. I wanted to see how stable the new PSU is. so far no problems. The PSU is slightly louder. I was able to install it into the chassis easily. The trick to getting the plastic temp sensor that sits on the fan grill of the original PSU was to cut off one of the small feet (exacto knife) and then bend the larger on outward. To snap it into place I rotated the sensor slightly away from perpendicular. Now I have bigger PSU in desktop which is very powerful for the $. the 990's only real limit is power. Now ... You will need to read the specifications carefully
My Dell 530S power supply had three SATA connectors. The replacement had two SATA connectors and a Molex. I needed a adapter to work with my Dell. Power supply fan is much noisier than the original. The delivery was fast and the price was good.

Needed a powersupply for my Samsung DB-Z70 desktop that was purchased from Newegg about 4 years ago. Started with them and they had nothing, suggested I check with Samsung..no help there..was told that J and J parts may be able to come up with a replacement. No joy there as well. Happened to check with CPUTOPIA and they took ownership of the problem..I needed the dimensions of their powersupply to be able to see if I could make it work inside the case. Small form power supply and had limited room. They told me to call back in about an hour and the gent I chatted with would have some suggestions and measurements. We settled on the this item because the dimensions were very close to original supply. Shipped and it fit perfectly and the computer is now up and running..I was afraid that I was ... Noisy but does the job
The fan is always running at 100% on this unit, which is somewhat sad. This makes it the noisiest thing now in the computer case, but even then it's not too terrible. The actual wire length for the CPU power lead was not technically long enough if the PCI slots were populated, but I was able to make it work by draping it across the components instead of secured with the chassis clips.
