I like it though it is obvious that it doesn't put out the same 14,000 BTU as a window air conditioner would and not quite as efficient either. It does get cold but not really meant for huge spaces; it can't handle the area as well as an window air does. However, it was the only option for me currently with bars on all the windows. I live in Tijuana so bars are a common thing here (try to keep the thieves out).I like it though it is obvious that it doesn't put out the same 14,000 BTU as a window air conditioner would and not quite as efficient either. 90 degrees outside, 85 degrees inside, temperature only went down 2 degrees, after 24 hours of running, 300 sq ft room. have to use an additional fan to push cooling from unit. unit never reaches set temperature. I purchased this based on the majority of good reviews on other sites. The Whynter ARC-14S a great unit for climate control.
Since I live in the south, I was looking for a way of heating and cooling my shop. Reviewed several units and was inpressed with Whynter ARC-14S. It is a small enough unit when not in use, it can be placed in the corner out of the way. The unit can handle my heating and cooling needs without over working. This unit was reasonably price and looks good and is cost effective.I would recommend similar unit for anyone needing a unit for climate control. My shop is a 12x12 metal building. I have use R-19 insulation with 1/2 sheet rock. In summary the unit works great is cost effective and looks great.Since I live in the south, I was looking for a way of heating and cooling my shop. I am very pleased with the Whynter ARC-14S portable air conditioner. Quality build, extremely efficient and quiet. Any person looking to cool their home should take a close look at this unit. I could go on and on to sing the praises of this unit. The unit can speak for itself. According to the manufacturer every ARC-14S unit that is shipped out is supplied with an included accessories box that includes all one needs to get the unit up and working in no time. Highly recommended!! Though individual units might be pricey to some, the extra expense is well worth the price tag as these units are the most efficient portable A.C. units I have found or used.I am very pleased with the Whynter ARC-14S portable air conditioner. Bought this to back up my other Whynter...they are good machines.
Bought this as a back-up to my other Whynter same model. This model cools my 450-sq ft area very well. Just a couple fans to really move the cool air around is all I need. Make sure you insulate the hot-air exhaust hose...I used two pairs(layered) of men's sweat pants where the hoses go through the pant legs and the waistband is situated around the area where the two hoses attach to the machine. Sounds ridiculous but this works really well! Over all this was a great purchase.Bought this as a back-up to my other Whynter same model. This model cools my 450-sq ft area very well.
