Rain Fall
Being a Judoka myself I enjoyed the Judo related portions of the book. The rest of the novel was adequate reading. There is a little too much of the looking over the shoulder and changing trains etc...makes for a slow read. The nam' haunted hero thing is a little played out as is the musically encoded disk that brings down the goverment aspect. These major flaws aside it was nice to read a story that takes place somewhere other than New York or California. Rain Fall - an excellent and compelling read
I first read the sequel to this book, Hard Rain, before turning around and reading Rain Fall. All of Barry Eisler's books are excellently written and very accurate with the places in the book and cultural references. Eisler's writing style gives a sense of realism to some very fantastic events. HIGHLY recommended for anyone with an interest in spy stories, James Bond enthusiasts, and anime fans or anyone else with an interest in Japan.I first read the sequel to this book, Hard Rain, before turning around and reading Rain Fall. All of Barry Eisler's books are excellently written and very accurate with the places in the book and cultural references. RAIN - myriad forms
Eisler's Rain novels are indeed compelling. The characters are engaging, the plots are twisty, and even the "not a lot happening yet" scenes help to tension the spring. A great read for the beach or a rainy day or while waiting for the charcoal to whiten. I only wish that there were more of them. If you like John Sanford or Lee Child or Robert Cray or the early works of Tom Clancy you are going to love Barry Eisler.Eisler's Rain novels are indeed compelling. great book, original
I'm a somewhat hard to please espionage/intrigue reader, so when I picked up the fourth book in this series and saw what a good read it was, I immediately put it down and bought the first book, 'Rain Fall'. It was the great book I had hoped. Books like these are few and far between. Not looking forward to being finished with the series...
