About this product

Product Information

"A superb introduction to paleontology as it really is and how it is done, from fish to dinosaur, bird, and mammal." --Edward O. Wilson Michael Novacek, a renowned paleontologist who has discovered important fossils on virtually every continent, is an authority on patterns of evolution and on the relationships among extinct and extant organisms. Time Traveler is his captivating account of how his boyhood enthusiasm for dinosaurs became a lifelong commitment to vanguard science. Novacek writes of the alluring perils of fieldwork with affection and discernment, and he illuminates the most exciting issues in paleontology today.

[Novacek is] a world-class field scientist. He's also one of paleontology's most effective popularizers, a highly entertaining writer who is just as good at bringing oviraptors, glyptodonts, and other fantastic creatures to life in print as he is at spotting their fragmented remains in a wall of rock., An engaging book . . . [Novacek] gives us an excellent sense of the way paleontologists have arrived at their world-shaking conclusions . . . With good humor and generosity . . . he offers genuine insights into the kind of reasoning that has allowed us to know so much about past eras, and he conveys a lively picture of his professional experiences., "[Novacek is] a world-class field scientist. Fast shipping. Item did arrive with a little damage on the spine (I included pictures). However, it was in a very thick cardboard mailer. I'm assuming that it was damaged during shipping. Not upset about it, especially considering that it cost at least half of what others are selling it for. I wasn't looking at this as a collectors item anyway. Just wanted it for myself. Would purchase from them again.

DO NOT TRUST THIS SELLER. Frauds. I wanted a specific edition of the book (it comes in many editions) with the exact same cover as shown in the stock photo. I messaged the seller requesting confirmation - and said that I would buy the book only if it was this specific edition. They sent me a confirmation that it was and even sent me a photo (photo 1). Then they sent me an edition with a different cover (photo 2). I live on another continent. - I can't spend 50$ shipping it back. Shameful.

  • Very well written and interesting book.

An excellent and interesting book. I'd recommend this book to anyone with an interest in fossils, the time periods and environment they lived in. I'll read this book several times over.
