Product Information

Based loosely on Paule Constant's own experiences, Private Property is at once deeply moving and intellectually exacting, an exploration of identity, home, and the tenuous relationship between mothers and daughters.

Reviews
"Paule Constant writes beautiful prose. She does not waste words. She can make a small moment loom as large as it does in real experience. She is at her best in crafting memorable images with a single sentence. This is the kind of book best savored rather than gulped."-Ruth Huizenga Everhart, Englewood Review of Books, "Small of scale does not mean small of consequence. That goes for the diminutive Tiffany as well as Private Property itself. Those moments that look so tiny, those school humiliations and emotional kicks at home, continue to shape us into adulthood. Constant''s portrait of a little girl lost, someone who would be happier to camouflage herself in the furniture than to take the spotlight, will loom large in the mind."-Jessa Crispin, NPR Books, "This translation carefully preserves the style of Constant's breathtakingly beautiful prose. . . . By sensitively tracing for English readers the hauntingly painful and isolated world of Tiffany . . . Miller and Grenaudier-Klijn have made Private Property a must read."-Eileen M. Angelini, author of Strategies of "Writing the Self" in the French Modern Novel: C'est moi, je crois, "Small of scale does not mean small of consequence. Ok so I ordered this item listed as having free shipping. It was listed at $43.54 with free shipping. Somehow I ended up being charged $65.52. Then after waiting 3 weeks and having absolutely no tracking information I spoke with the seller who agreed to send a replacment, but despite charging me extra money was unwilling to ship that replacment in a way that wouldn't take atleast 3 more weeks. Ultimately this was a complete waste of time and the seller is not one that I would recommend.

This is not a coloring book!!!!! It’s just a book of black and white photos and even if colored over would look horrible! This book is a scam and I have received 2 items out of 3 I ordered and the third hasn’t even been shipped. Tried to message seller but only option given is to send the item number but no way to give reason for dissatisfaction with item! I would advise not ordering anything from this seller…
